Fun at the Aquarium

Just after Christmas, we went on a Zacharda family outing to the Seattle Aquarium. We thought the kiddos would love it since they are always mesmerized by Grandpa Bill's aquarium. In hindsight, I wouldn't say they loved their visit to the aquarium. I'd say they were semi-interested. For starters, it was super crowded, so that made it hard to get a good view of anything. And there's nothing really interactive or super exciting at the aquarium for little ones. Sure, there are a lot of fish and other sea creatures to look at, but that didn't sustain their attention for long. When they are older it will be fun to take them and let them poke all of the sea anenomes and starfish in the touch tanks, but right now they are just too little. There was, however, a man walking around with a starfish in a bowl and Kate was brave enough to stick her hand in and poke it!

There is a short window of opportunity between morning nap time and lunch time that we have to go places and do things. Since it took us about an hour to drive to Seattle, that window had gotten pretty small. So, needless to say, our time at the aquarium was very limited before meltdowns began to make their appearance. I was approaching a meltdown myself because I'm not a big fan of crowds, the kids were getting heavy (they refused to be in their stroller!) and I was hungry too! So we high-tailed it outta there and ate at Red Robin on the waterfront. After all of the hubbub, me and the kids zonked out in the car while poor Jacob drove his sleeping family home.Kate and Jacob in front of the BIG tank. There was a scuba diver in there that waved at Kate and Kate waved back (one of her latest accomplishments). Too cute!
Yes, that's a really big octupus behind Reece and me. Yuck!
