I realize Christmas is in 2 days and here I am writing about Halloween. After persistant nagging from someone (you know who you are) that I update the blog, I decided it was high time I posted an update. However, I feel I must start where I last left off and not ignore all of the events of the past several months...
So here I am starting with October's events...
We made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch. We tried out a new patch this year and were highly disappointed. It wasn't really a patch, more like pumpkins scattered all over a dirt field. The tractor ride was lame. It was freezing cold. And they didn't even have any kettle corn!
At least we got some pumpkins and got to spend some time together, though :)
In the past, we've chosen the kids' Halloween costumes for them (the Shrek triplets, 3 little pumpkins), but this year we figured they were old enough to have a say in what they wore for Halloween. We explained the concept of Halloween costumes to them and showed them some pictures of costumes and Kate immediately decided she wanted to be Minnie Mouse.
"A PINK Minnie Mouse. Not the Minnie Mouse with the red dress. A PINK dress. With Polka Dots."
The boys, however, had a much harder time picking out their costumes. They wanted to be dump trucks, excavators, skid steers, backhoes. I kept explaining to them that they could be an operator of those machines, but not the actual machines. This did not please them and resulted in many o' fits.
After many talks about Halloween costumes and what their choices could be, Chase finally (with some coaxing) settled on Donald Duck.
Cutest costume. Ever.
Tried as I might to get Reece to join the Disney crew and be Mickey, Goofy, or Pluto, he was not having it. One day he finally made up his mind and told us that he wanted to be a bumble bee. Finally. An acceptable costume idea.
Thankfully, the Halloween costumes got a lot of use this year.
They wore them to Harvest Party at preschool (although they only kept them on for about 10 minutes, which is why they aren't pictured on the boys below)...
They wore them again to the harvest Party at our church (sorry no pictures of that. It was way too chaotic!).
Then on Halloween afternoon, we trick-or-treated in downtown Snohomish.
Chase had a little (happy) freak out when he discovered someone had given him a yoyyipop (lollipop) and showed it to every single person we passed, saying, "Smell it!"
After round one of trick-or-treating, we hit up Red Robin for some dinner before embarking on the next round.
Round #2 of trick-or-treating was just around our neighborhood. We made it to about 6 houses before the meltdowns started and the kids started asking to go home. So we called it a night, and hauled all of our loot home.
Now here it is two months later and we still have a huge basket of Halloween candy left. Funny how there's not a single lollipop left in the basket, though. Can you guess who ate them all up!?

Thank you :)
I love their costume choices! It’s so fun to let them express themselves. After Nolan picked Thomas the train (what else?) He decided he wanted to be a ghost. Like the sheet with two holes cut out kind of ghost. So funny! We stuck with Thomas though. Snohomish is such a fun little city! You live in a great area!
I too appreciate the updates!! You guys are great parents and your kids are adorable!!
