Day 140. One of THOSE days.

The boys had been complaining of ear pain for a few days, so I made them doctor appointments this morning and packed everyone up in the car. The appointment went smoothly, other than finding out they both have sinus infections and Reece has 2 ear infections.

After the appointment, we went to the Safeway pharmacy to get the boys' antibiotic prescriptions filled. If you've never tried to keep three 3-year-olds under control in a grocery store, then let me tell you that it's no picnic.

As I tried to pick out some over-the-counter medication, they knocked stuff off the shelves, they ran around, they fought, the disappeared around corners where I could not see them.

We then moved on to the pharmacy line, where they continued to act like crazed lunatics while I hissed threats at them to try and get them to stop. I ended up having to hold child #2 while he kicked and screamed and then head butted me in the jaw with all of his might. As other customers stared at us, I could almost read their thoughts...can't that woman control her kids!?

After we finally reached the pharmacy counter, I was told we would have to wait 20 minutes for the medications to be filled. Ticked off at my kids awful behavior, I stormed out of the store, dragging them behind me. As we sat in the car for 20 minutes, I sternly lectured them on proper behavior in the grocery store. When the 20 minutes were up, we piled out of the car and back into the store.

Again we waited in line and again, the kids behavior was less than desirable. Way less. Once at the counter, we were told the prescriptions were not ready yet. So I dragged the kids in to the waiting room as child #1 threw himself on the floor, having a complete meltdown. By this time, it was 12:30 and the kids needed lunch. We sat in the waiting room for 15 more minutes as I held child #2 on my lap to keep him from escaping back into the grocery store. He kicked, he screamed, he head-butted me again and told me he wanted to pee on me. I was seething mad. It took everything in me not to scream expletives.

After 45 minutes of total wait time and still no medicine, I was fed up and picked up child #1 & #2 and stomped out of the store, with child #3 screaming behind me.

The rest of the day continued in much the same manner. By the time Jacob got home, I was totally spent and had to leave the house for a sanity break. Can you guess where I went? That's right. Back to the store to pick up the prescriptions.

Thankfully days like these are few and far between.
