Ultrasound

My mom spent the night with me last night and was able to accompany me to my ultrasound this morning. The ultrasound was a quick one that just involved doing doppler readings of the blood flow in the babies' hearts, brains, and umbilical cords. They also measured my cervix and it appears to be holding strong, although Baby A was trying to punch his way through as we watched. We also got to witness a little punching/kicking fight between Baby B & C. Baby C (girl) has turned into quite the wild child the past few weeks and as we watched, she gave her brother a big old punch in the stomach. The sonographer assured me that they are not hurting each other though. A little while later my doctor visited and expressed concern over the fact that the doppler readings for Baby B & C's umbilical cords is low, possibly indicating slowed growth. He is not sure what is causing this, so tomorrow I will be having a growth scan of the babies to determine if they really have slowed in their growth. After the findings from tomorrow's scan, he may decide prescribe medication to increase blood flow. He also wants me to start hydrotherapy in my miniature bathtub twice a day to help improve my circulation. I am trying not to worry until we have more solid information. Hopefully tomorrow's scan will show that the babies' are growing just fine.

What a help it is to read the explanation. And what a blessing it was for your mom to be with you at that crucial time this morning. All of you are in our prayers.
