Grandma's Obituary

Grandma's obituary was published in Salem's Statesman Journal on April 11, 2010...

Wanda Weber

Wanda Weber passed away quietly at home after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Wanda leaves her family and many, many friends with fond memories of her loving spirit and open heart.
Born in Grants Pass, Ore., Wanda graduated from Grants Pass High School where she was a cheerleader and a Gladiola Princess.
Wanda and Harold Weber were married June, 11, 1950, and raised their family in Klamath Falls, their home for more than 50 years. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year.
A devoted mother, Wanda was active in Boy Scouts and Campfire Girls, the PTA. and other civic activities. She was also a member of Reames Country Club, the BPOE and a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Harold; son Mike and his wife, Karla Weber, of Salem, Ore.; daughter Sue and her husband, Ken Aries, of Bremerton, Wash.; granddaughters, Erin and her husband Jacob Zacharda of Snohomish, Wash., Allison Compton of Seattle; great-grandchildren, (triplets) Reece, Kate and Chase Zacharda; and sisters, Wilma Meunch of Salem, and Paula Winn of Kennewick, Wash.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew the gift of her life.
We ask that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Willamette Valley Hospice, 1015 3rd St. N.W., Salem, OR 97304-4007.

I had the honor of speaking to Grandma Wanda several times when she called while I was caring for the babies. It was a joy and privilege to get to know her. She was an encourager and was so very interested in what was happening that day. She seemed grateful for all the times she had visited and continually looked forward to the next visit with her precious little ones. Her faith in Jesus Christ as her savior, interest in others, positive outlook and innate kindness are part of a legacy that blessed her family and has influenced folks near and far. Psalm 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."
