An All-American Fourth

We spent the Fourth of July being about as all-American as you can get...

We started out the day all dressed in our red, white and blue and took some good ol' family photos...

Then we headed down to Remlinger Farms for some strawberry pickin'.

They didn't quite get the concept of only picking the red ones.

Every time we turned around they were stuffing berries into their mouths, too, and it didn't matter if they were ripe or not. All berries were fair game for eating.

While we were down in Carnation, we stopped at McDonald Park and had a picnic in the sun.

After some much-needed naps back at home, we spent the rest of the afternoon outside playing in our own yard.

It was such a gorgeous day - our view of Mt. Rainier was amazing!

Just before dinner, Jacob put on a little tiny fireworks show for the kids.

Pop-its, smoke bombs, and snakes were their favorites.

As they all crouched in the street watching the 'snake' grow,
Reece exclaimed, "Look like big poop!"

For dinner we whipped up some  ribs, corn on the cob, Caesar salad, and fruit.

In typical Reece fashion, he ate only his grapes and milk, while the other two devoured everything on their plates and then asked for more.

Once dinner was finished, we headed back outside for a fire, marshmallows, more fireworks, and more playing.

And for once, I actually let go of my obsessive time schedule and let the kids stay up late.
They made it until about 9:00 and then the meltdowns started, so we called it a night.

What a great day!

What a fun 4th! Can't get more all-American than that! Great pics! Remember the sparklers at age 7 months? Looks like they'll be looking forward to the 4th in years to come.
