Day Out With Thomas

Every summer Thomas the Tank Engine travels the country, stopping at 45 train depots, including the Snoqualmie Depot. And Since our kiddos are so fond of Thomas, we thought we'd treat them to a special "Day Out With Thomas" while he was in the area.

We told the kids a few weeks in advance that Thomas was coming and we were going to go ride on him. They were so excited and asked about it every single day until the big day arrived.
"Go see Thomas in 2 weeks!?"
"Go see Thomas in 1 week!?"
"Go see Thomas in 2 days!?"
"Go see Thomas tomorrow!?"

Finally the much-anticipated day arrived.

Not only did they get to climb around on old vintage trains, but they got to ride on one as well.
Thomas was the {pseudo} steam engine pulling the train and we had told them that we were going to ride on Thomas. Once we boarded the passenger car, Reece got a little upset. He thought he was actually going to ride ON Thomas, not be pulled in a passenger car where he could not even see Thomas.
He snapped out of it pretty quickly though and thoroughly enjoyed the train ride to Snoqualmie Falls and back.

It helped that I brought special Thomas fruit snacks along for the trip :)

Grandma Judy and Papa Bill also joined us on the adventure and treated the kids to the adorable little engineer hats.

Kate had been so excited to see Sir Topham Hat, but when it was finally their turn for a picture with him, she refused to stand anywhere near him, so we had to join the kids in the picture...

While they enjoyed seeing Thomas and going on a train ride, I'd have to say that their favorite part of the day was the school bus ride we took to and from the parking lot...
go figure!

We felt bad that we didn't buy them any Thomas memorobilia on the adventure, so
after we got home, we jumped on Ebay (WAY cheaper than the stores!) to order them some more Thomas trains to add to their ever-expanding collection.

Cute! When we went it was muddy and rainy and Topham Hatt left! I don't think Nolan would have liked him anyway. Hahaha.
