Trick-or-Treat!

I had been searching for the perfect Halloween costumes for the kids for months. I contemplated Fruit of the Loom (couldn't find infant fruit costumes), M&M's (too lame), Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach (don't come in infant sizes) and finally I remembered that in Shrek the Third, Shrek and Fiona have triplets that also happened to be 2 boys and a girl! How perfect! Jacob could dress as Shrek, me as Fiona, and the babies as the Shrek triplets! I ordered the kids costumes and made Kate's look more girly by adding ribbons to the ears and turned the pants into a skirt. However, time ran away from me and I never ended up ordering costumes for Jacob and me - dang! Jacob wasn't too thrilled about dressing as Shrek anyways :)

Friday I took the kids up to Jacob's office for their annual trick-or-treating extravaganza. We loaded them in their limousine-like stroller and paraded around the office, trick-or-treating at all of the offices and cubicles. Apparently no one has ever seen Shrek the Third, so no one really 'got' that they were the Shrek triplets; they all thought Kate was Fiona and the boys were just mini-Shreks. We still had fun though. People handed the kids candy and they enjoyed sucking and chewing on the wrappers. The candy soon became mangled and melted and oozed all over Reece's face and costume and Kate managed to open a box of Dots and was just about to eat one when I ended their fun and took it all away. Mean Mama!
We wanted to take the kids trick-or-treating on Halloween to show off their cute costumes, but since they don't eat candy and go to bed at 6:30, we decided to do our own version of trick-or-treating during the day. So with them all dressed up once again, we trudged out in the pouring rain and delivered a loaf of chocolate chip pumpkin bread to each of our neighbors. Unfortunately most of our neighbors weren't home and so we ended up leaving our treats on their doorsteps. The kids were soaked and frozen and it ended up being a pretty disappointing excursion.
