The Fall of the Great Wall

When the kids first became mobile, we put up a long "fence" that spanned the entire width of the playroom (aka the dining room) to keep them contained and out of mischief.

When they learned how to move the fence and maneuver out of the playroom,
we bolted it to the walls.

Now that the kids are TWO years old, we decided that they had finally earned themselves some freedom.
So down came the Great Wall.

They've had about a month of freedom now and I'd say it's going pretty well.

I'm not saying they don't get into mischief....
They go into the bathroom and flush the toilet repeatedly.
Sometime I randomly hear the water running in the bathroom sink.
They torment the dogs.
They get into the kitchen cabinets and leave my measuring cups strewn all over the house.
They help themselves to snacks in the pantry.
They pull all of the wipes and diapers out of their containers and leave them all over the floor.
They record random shows on the DVR.
They leave their toys EVERYWHERE.
They turn the lights on and off and on and off and on and off...

But aside from all that, it really does go pretty smoothly most of the time.
They can totally handle going up and down the stairs themselves.
They know what is off limits and although they don't always follow the rules,
they are generally pretty well-behaved kids.
Sometimes curiosity just gets the better of them :)
