There is fungus among us

It's always something, isn't it!? About a week and a half ago, Reece got a few red bumps in the fat rolls of his neck. I figured it was a rash from the constant flow of drool that is always pooling in his neck. I called the nurse line at our Pediatrician's office early in the week and was told to keep it dry as much as possible. Yeah right, as if that is possible at all. He was completely soaking at least 5 bibs a day - I mean so wet you could wring the drool out of them! Each day though, the bumps and redness were multiplying, so Friday I took him to the doctor. The doctor (not our regular pediatrician) determined it was a yeast infection from all of the warm moisture collecting in his neck and prescribed some creams to apply 4 times a day. We applied the creams all weekend long and the rash just got worse and spread all over his body - armpits, chest, abdomen, diaper area, behind his ears, etc. It looked terrible, but at least he didn't seem bothered by it.So I took him back to the Doc's office this morning, actually I took all three of them because it was too short of notice to get anyone to help me! That was no picnic. So the doctor (again not our regular doctor, and a different one from the first time) looked Reece up and down with his little magnifying lens, then left the room to do some 'research'. He came back in and determined not only was it extremely irritated skin from heat, friction from all of the rolling around, being moist all the time with drool, but it also is a little bit of eczema. Thanks a lot for passing that gene on, Daddy. So now he has to have the same steroidal cream rubbed on twice a day that Daddy has. So I guess there is no fungus growing among us, just irritated skin. Poor little Bubba.

We did this too, right at 6 months! Eczema and heat=good times!
