Chase, however, was unwilling to give his up. He absolutely loves his "nuh" as he calls it. He actually has 2 of them, a "new nuh" (which is not new) and an "old nuh" (with a broken zipper). These have become his comfort items, which is not such a strange phenomenon for a young child. Kate's comfort item is her pink bunny, Reece's are his "Bee-bah" (big bunny) and "Snaggle Bunny" (little green bunny) and Chase's is his "Nuh".
The goofy thing, however, is that Chase still insists on wearing it. All the time. It's like walking around in a sleeping bag, but he's gotten quite proficient at it. And if he's not wearing it, he's dragging it around with him.
Unfortunately, he's just about outgrown it and he's worn holes in the bottom of it where his toes stick out.
We're trying to ween him off of wearing it, so now he's only allowed to wear it when he's in his bed. Some days, however, he absolutely insists on wearing it because he says he's freezing and needs it.
The best part of the Nuh is the embroidered shoulder, which he refers to as his "favorite part" and loves to smell it and rub it on his face when he feels the need for comfort. We keep explaining to him that he can still smell his favorite part without wearing it, but I think he likes to have it ready and accessible at all times.
I dread the day when we finally tell him that he can't wear it at all anymore. I may have to put in earplugs for that meltdown.
