The Happenings

So what's been going on with us recently...

It's now become more difficult to write blog posts as frequently as our den has now become Kate's make-shift room. We are in the process of training them to put themselves to sleep and this entails lots of crying before sleep ensues. Reece and Kate seem to have a domino effect on one another when crying, so they had to be separated. Chase seems to be unphased by either of them and can fall asleep despite the screaming.

Chase rolled over from front to back on April 19th - 9 days after Reece. I have a feeling they are going to be quite competitive brothers!

All three kids got their 4-month vaccinations with minimal crying and side effects. Yay! They also got a clean bill of health and have gained a good amount of weight. The boys are only 1 ounce apart in weight, both weighing nearly 16 pounds! Kate has also gained a substantial amount of weight, quadrupling her birth weight and tipping the scales at 12 pounds.

Kate got the stomach flu and spit up lots, cried lots, and vomited lots over the weekend. Then we heard/felt a weird popping sound in her back near her ribs every time she would scream. We were pretty freaked out thinking that she broke a rib or popped a lung or something crazy. So we went to the doctor for the third time in a week and had to go to the hospital for x-rays. It was so sad to see my tiny little baby girl in just a diaper on the huge x-ray table. It turns out she is fine, she just has cartilage that pops when her lungs really expand. It has been an exhausting week!

The kids finally started interacting with one another. One day they finally just turned their heads and realized that there was another person lying next to them and they started talking (i.e. making goofy sounds) and smiling at one another. It has been so cute!Reece learned how to play peek-a-boo with Grandma Judy. He pulls his snuggly over his face and then pulls it off himself and smiles and laughs. He did this over and over again with her. They seemed to really enjoy the game together!

As always, we are super busy and they constantly keep us on our toes. Just when we think things are finally going smoothly and we're getting the hang of this, something happens and throws everything off balance. I think that's just how life is going to be for us and we'd better just learn to accept that life with triplets will always be challenging.
