I'm too beat today for much of a blog post...
Last night, Jacob and I laid down for bed and just as we were falling asleep we heard a strange sound coming from Reece's room. I jumped out of bed and went into his room to find him on all fours, gasping for breath. I scooped him up as Jacob came running in. He had been fine with I checked on him 45 minutes earlier, but now he was not so fine. We knew something serious was going on as he continued to gasp.
Jacob called his sister, Amy, and she immediately came over (thank you, Amy!) so that we could both take Reece to the hospital. We were both terrified.
We got in right away once we were at the Evergreen ER (just tell them you have a breathing problem and they miraculously get you in right away!). The doctor determined Reece has viral croup, which is a virus that causes inflammation of the upper airways. It is often accompanied with cold-like symptoms, which have hit Reece and Kate full-force today.
They ended up giving Reece a dose of oral steroids and sent us home. He is breathing much better today, but has a barking cough and a nose that won't stop running. Apparently it's pretty contagious too. Great.
So I spent most of the day, tending to sick, cranky babies and sterilizing everything in the entire house.
