A Month in the Life: Day 18

One of my goals the past few months has been to teach the kids to go up and down the stairs by themselves.

As you can imagine, I spend a lot of my time carrying babies up and down the stairs every day. I can't even guesstimate how many times because it's that many. They are getting to be pretty heavy little tikes too!

I started with Kate because she picks things up really quickly. Once the boys saw her doing it, they caught on pretty fast. And now, I'm happy to report that everyone has mastered going up and down the stairs! See for yourself...

Here they are going up the stairs. As you can see, it's slow going and they need lots of encouragement and motivation, but they can do it!!

Teaching them to go down was the hard part. I love how Chase starts going backwards about 3 feet before he actually even gets to the stairs. Reece is not wearing pants because we had a diaper malfunction while we were playing upstairs.

They love going up and down the stairs. Whenever they get cranky, all I have to is say "Let's go upstairs!" and they get super excited and the crying immediately stops.

I still have to go up and down the stairs a lot, but at least I don't have to carry 80 pounds of babies!

Awesome post! Think I heard Reece say "ringing" when the phone rang and also "light" when he got to the top of the stairs. Love how everyone passes the snuggly except for Chase. That's definitely his 'thing.' Did he say "mine" when he reached it and picked it up on the stairway? Stair climbing is a required skill in your home and it looks like they're close to mastering it! What a great idea to make it so much fun!

Erin, you are so fabulous and such a wonderful expressive writer. Thanks for sharing! jan

Kate - smart and pretty!! Glad they are all well. Love seeing videos of these beautiful babies! (Taught mine to crawl up stairs and slide down almost like they would on an outdoor slide. Worked well.)
